Foods and additives for commercial consumption are subject to a certificate from the Food, Veterinary and Environment Agency.
In the event of major alterations being undertaken to the company after certification, supplementary certification must be acquired from the Food, Veterinary and Environment Agency. Certification of fishing vessels All fishing vessels over 20 GT must be certified by the Food, Veterinary and Environment Agency. Although vessels under 20 GT do not require certification, they are however obliged to comply with demands set towards the processing of fresh fish. Companies, factory trawlers processing fish, fish products, hereunder shells/molluscs. Companies processing fish and fish products are to be considered as EU companies. These companies must comply with the same demands levelled at EU processing companies. Municipal waterworks are under the supervision of the Food, Veterinary and Environmental Agency. However, the companies are themselves responsible for that their water supply is meeting the quality standard demanded, and in many instances companies have chosen to install their own internal water purifying systems. Other food processors, excluding fish All certified companies are subject to the same demands to layout and operation as the fish processing companies and shall have implemented internal control.
