The postal service (Postverk Føroya) is organised as an institution under the Government (Føroya Landsstýri) and has a monopoly to collect, transport and distribute letters, cards and enclosed consignments that are suitable for postage. Postverk Føroya can also dispatch financial consignments, postgiro and all other postal services normally associated with the aforementioned
consignments, such as C.O.D.

Post to and from Iceland and Denmark is dispatched directly. For practical reasons postal connections to other countries are via Denmark according to a special co-operation agreement.

Post deliveries take place once daily (Mon. - Fri.). Apart from this service it is possible to have your post delivered to a post-box at the post office.
Postverk Føroya issues Faroese stamps, which are an important export item for collectors.
