Vagar Airport Vagar Airport, the airport in the Faroe Islands, is located on the island of Vágoy. Regular bus connections are linked to scheduled arrival and departure flights. The trip to Tórshavn takes 40 minutes by car/bus.
The airport is managed by the Civil Aviation Administration under the Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy. The runway is 1,250 metres long and 30 metres wide and is positioned in a safety zone of 1,370 x 150 metres. The runway is asphalt and grooved sideways to increase friction. The runway is equipped as a ‘non-precision approach’ runway with the ICAO code mark ‘3’. There are approximately 5,500 operations a year and approximately 200,000 passengers a year travel through the airport.

Search and Rescue Is provided by MRCC Tórshavn, RRC Reykjavik and the Chief Constable at Faroe Islands. The Danish Air Force and Danish Naval Air Force also use the airport in connection with their military presence in the Faroe Islands and their fishery inspection duties in Faroese territorial waters.
